Brilliant video Steven. Many a times we are not in control of the Incoming and Outgoing phases and are expected to “practice” Ongoing phase well. There is hardly an occassion when we get to discuss Peacetime. I think Incoming, Outgoing and Peacetime (what is usually referred to as Succession Planning) is something that is more a “collective individuality” project that should involve the bosses of the department/Orgs for whom we steer the teams/initiatives. What do you think?
Most of the companies do Succession Identification and not Succession Planning i.e., they dont work on the identified successor so at times it gets difficult to practice Peacetime phase. I am commenting it from my middle-mamangement perspective.
