I’m sorry for the delay in getting a video online for you, but my wife Jackie was involved in a car accident yesterday. She skidded after rain on an English country road, slammed into a roadsign and rolled the car into a ditch. The steep sides of the ditch pinned both doors tight shut. My wife and our son Chris were trapped, upside down, as the water bubbled in through the window seals.
Chris was brilliant, though, calm and resourceful. And together Jackie and he yelled for help and got some folks to open the boot, or trunk, so they could get out. They crawled out of the somewhat crushed car, miraculously without a single scratch on them. Just as the water started to seep in seriously, through the air hoses and the engine block.
I am very grateful to the villagers who helped Jackie and Chris out of the car and to the emergency services who were on the scene so fast. Thank you. And to Renault, who made our family car, another big thank you. Although it was written off as far as our insurance company is concerned the important thing is that the car survived the crash. And thanks to it surviving, Jackie and Chris survived, too.
A reminder for me that I work to live, not live to work.
So this is not the video I intended to give you today. I haven’t had time to prepare that for the web. Instead you’re getting a full keynote speech I gave in Abu Dhabi a short while ago. It got good reviews from the managers present, so I hope it makes up for the interruption to the Death of Leadership material.
Take care.
Steven

Hi Steven, so glad to hear Jackie and Christopher were unhurt , and yes it really does make you think about whether you live to work or vice versa.
Great Abu Dhabi keynote Leadership speech by the way, it really did turn out well, on final note Steven…
Do you think you will be able to more time aside now to live or can a leopard not change his spots?
Steven Sonsino reply on July 13th, 2008 8:53 pm:
Let me think about that…
